“Randy’s Five Star Academy owned by Ms. Dalphia Murphy was the first day care for both of my daughters, Alexis (25) & Kelsey (23) Perry.  Alexis was one of the first when the daycare started.  Dalphia was also our next door neighbor, so my husband and I knew her for years before she opened the day care.  We were thrilled when she told us she was opening it because we knew Alexis would receive excellent care (and of course both she and Kelsey did).

Randy’s Five Star Academy was part of the starting foundation for the rest of Alexis’ and Kelsey’s live, and they have both grown into very wonderful, successful young women.

Alexis ran track and was a cheerleader starting in middle school.  She competed in both within and outside of school.  She was very successful in both becoming state champion in the hurdles, long jump, and high jump as well as being on the varsity cheerleading team starting her freshman year and becoming captain.  Alexis went to NC State on a full track scholarship and became the captain of the women’s track team her sophomore year.  She was also blessed to have qualified for the 2016 track & field Olympic trials and was an All-American NCAA athlete.

After graduating from NC State with awards for the Women’s MVP, Alexis pursued a professional track career, but due to a knee problem, she had to cut short her professional goal.  It was at this time that Alexis decided she wanted to give back to her community and she decided to pursue a career in the non-profit world.  Alexis is currently the Business Operations Manager at non-profit organization and is pursuing her Masters of Public Administration.

Kelsey also ran track and was on the varsity cheerleading team (also starting in middle school), and competed in both in and outside of school.  She also had a very successful track career and was also a high school cheerleading caption and was also Homecoming Queen her senior year.  In high school Kelsey’s passion was in theatre where she was the stage manager for the school’s production of Hair Spray.  Kelsey also had a passion for cheerleading and caring for children, so she put them both together and is now a cheerleading coach.

Kelsey graduated with honors with a degree in Family & Consumer Sciences.  To continue to be able to help children, Kelsey is pursuing a double degree with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling.  Upon graduation, Kelsey plans to become a child psychologist.

Both Alexis and Kelsey are members of the illustrious Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated following in their mother’s footsteps.  They both still think very fondly of their start at the Little People Daycare.”

Sincerely,
Alesia Perry

“My daughter, Amelia, has attended Randy’s Five Star Academy since she was twelve weeks old, and she is now two. I am writing to share with you our positive experience with this wonderful school.

I initially selected Randy’s Five Star Academy because of the warm demeanor of the teachers in the nursery. They were very reassuring and quickly eased my fears as a new mother leaving her child for the first time. The teachers took the time to sit with me and explain every detail of what Amelia's childcare would be like. They answered every question with patience and respect, and were very supportive during those first few difficult weeks.

As my daughter has grown, I have been so impressed with the Little People staff and their commitment to nurturing Amelia into a capable, articulate and well adjusted toddler. I wish I could take the credit myself, but I have been coached by her very capable teachers every step along the way.

The staff encourage Amelia’s independence and have served as expert resources about her development during every stage. I am always amazed and thrilled by the things she is learning and doing at school. The lesson plans incorporate art, song, movement and reading. Recently, the class spent the week learning about farms, and every day Amelia came home talking about different aspects of farm life. I always can tell that the lessons are consistent and reinforced.

Amelia has incredible social skills for her age. Table manners, polite social interactions and a solid emotional intelligence have always
been reinforced. I like to brag that I have the most polite kid on the block!
In addition to the solid curriculum, Little People also offers extra-curricular activities like gymnastics, opportunities to get involved in the community through philanthropy, and special programs like a holiday show that the children put on for the parents.

My second daughter will be arriving in July, and we have already secured her a spot in the infant nursery. This time around, I have no fears or concerns about leaving my child, because I know she is in caring, capable hands with the Randy’s Five Star Academy.”

Sincerely,
Amanda Parrish

“I’m writing to recommend Randy’s Five Star Academy as an exemplary daycare center. My wife and I visited several daycare centers all over the Triangle area when we were deciding where to place our four-month-old son. Little People stood out for several reasons.

First, the director and owner, Ms. Dalphia Murphy, was engaging, enthusiastic, and honest. As she showed us around, several other advantages became clear. The facility itself was clean, organized, and had more open space for the children than many of the other daycares we visited. The staff was friendly and abundant.

But most importantly, the children were well-behaved, clean, and best of all, happy. Our son has been with Randy’s Five Star Academy and Ms. Murphy for five months now, and all of our first impressions have been confirmed. Every day we receive detailed reports about his day, and Ms. Murphy and all of the other personnel we have contact with are more than professional -they are interested, involved, and very kind. Our son’s instructors in particular, have been immensely helpful to us.

Their keen observations and good advice have helped ease our minds. This is no small task, considering that we are typically nervous first-time parents. I’d be happy to discuss our experience with Randy’s Five Star Academy in more detail. I can be reached at (919) 613-8565.”

“It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of support for the Randy’s Five Star Academy have worked with the Randy’s Five Star Academy program for a number of years. I have worked with them in the capacity of a Technical Assistance Associate where we focused on improving the quality of care in their program.

There are several exceptional standards in place at Randy’s Five Star Academy and I will note a few of them.

1. Safety -Strict rules are put in place regarding safety equipment. They ensure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers and emergency lighting are in there proper places and they are in good working order. They have monthly fire and tornado drills with the children.

2. Quality-All toys and play equipment are checked daily to ensure it is in safe and good working order. If something is broken, dirty or not working, it is either repaired or replaced immediately.

3. Healthy Environment -All staff practice good hand washing techniques before and after preparing meals, children wash their hands upon entering the center, before and after meals, after outside play, as well as staff and children was their hands after contact with any bodily fluids. Toys are disinfected daily, and play areas are vacuumed and cleaned before the next day’s use.

4. Love and Affection -The staff treats all children with the utmost love, affection and respect. The staff exhibits a love for children and seemingly they enjoy working with children. Love is what we do as well as what we say.

5. Physical Development -Little People has a large, nicely equipped play area where the children are able to work on large muscle development. The staff interacts with the children during this time and gives attention and direction where needed. These are only a few standards of the program that make Little People an exceptional day care program. I fully support, without reservation, this program and would recommend it as a
program of excellence.

“I highly recommend Randy’s Five Star Academy as a childcare provider for any age child. I first came into contact with Ms. Murphy with my first child Jada. Jada was about 12 months and attended the Sara Barker School since she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth.

Once Durham County decided to embrace the inclusion program for special needs children, it was a challenge to find a daycare that would work with us with Jada. Ms. Murphy and her staff welcomed Jada to the center and worked with the Therapist to help Jada.

In addition, Ms. Murphy took it step further and invited experts from the Community Partnership organization to meet and talk with the teachers on working with children with special needs. Jada remained with Ms. Murphy’s center until she went to Kindergarten. It was an overall excellent experience.

Now, 4 years later, we found ourselves expecting my second child. Immediately, I reached out to Ms. Murphy so that I got on her waiting list for my child to attend her daycare once again. Sanii started attending at 6 weeks old and is now 20 months old and I couldn’t picture Sanii being anywhere else but at Randy’s Five Star Academy.

It goes without saying that Ms. Murphy and her staff provide the highest quality of service, education and it is a family atmosphere for the children that attend. Ms. Murphy has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. Her ability to connect with the children and her talent at selecting the best teachers are both truly superior.

I recommend Randy’s Five Star Academy to anyone without reservation. If you have any further questions with regard to Randy’s Five Star Academy, please do not hesitate to contact me at 919-573-7269.

“It is with great pleasure that I am writing to endorse the Randy’s Five Star Academy. This center has provided quality child care and teaching for my child since the first day they welcomed us-over two years ago-and we have never been disappointed.

Our family was drawn to this center because of the five-star accreditation and the staff, many of which we knew had, or was pursuing, higher education.

Now, our comfort lies in knowing that this center Is not just limited to a caring and experienced staff, but it also is equipped with a multitude of learning opportunities available for our child to explore all day long; provides a nutritious meal and snack plan; maintains a clean facility and practices good cleanliness habits with the children; is staffed with low teacher: child ratios; and ls administered by a director, who shows her dedication and commitment to the children, the parents, and the staff alike on a dally basis.

Still, the biggest assurance that Randy’s Five Star Academy is the right fit for our family is the delight that my daughter exudes every morning we bring her to the center.”
